Official Closing Ceremony Marks the End of the 2025 European Universities Tennis Championship

The European Universities Tennis Championship 2025 officially came to a close on August 3 with a vibrant Closing Ceremony held at the Tennis Venue of the University of Coimbra Stadium. The event brought together athletes, volunteers, organisers, and fans in a joyful celebration of sporting excellence, camaraderie, and European unity.
This year’s Championship welcomed over 109 participants from 19 universities across 12 countries, making it a true showcase of cultural diversity and shared passion for sport. Throughout the competition, various languages, traditions, and cultures harmoniously converged, reinforcing the spirit of unity through tennis.
In the men’s finals, the University of Regensburg claimed the championship title after a thrilling match against Sorbonne Paris Nord University. On the women’s side, the University of Valencia emerged victorious following an exciting final against the Technical University of Munich. Both finals captivated audiences with high-level competition, roaring support from the stands, and emotional moments that will be remembered by all involved.
The medal and award ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Liviu Matac (EUSA representative), Jorge Cardoso (Portuguese Technical Delegate for Tennis), Ricardo Nora (President of FADU), Amílcar Falcão (Rector of the University of Coimbra), Carlos Magalhães (President of the Organising Committee), and Carina Duarte (General Secretary of the event).

In a symbolic closing gesture, the EUSA flag was officially passed on to the University of Split, Croatia, which will host the next edition of the European Universities Tennis Championship in 2027.
Beyond the fierce competition, this year’s Championship stood out for its commitment to sportsmanship, mutual respect, and intercultural exchange. A dedicated team of over 36 local and international student volunteers ensured smooth organisation and added warmth to the participants’ experience.
Spectators and athletes alike also enjoyed a rich programme of cultural events, local hospitality, and a festive atmosphere that lit up the city of Coimbra throughout the Championship.
From unexpected victories and dramatic comebacks to new milestones on the court, EUC Tennis 2025 delivered countless unforgettable moments. The European Universities Tennis family now looks ahead to 2027 in Split, where the next chapter of this extraordinary journey will unfold.
